Shobhana Gandhi, MD, FACOG

Dr. Gandhi grew up in rural India. At the early age of seven, she decided that she would become an OB/GYN doctor. She received her Master’s of Science degree from the University of Baroda in Baroda, India, and then went on to earn her Doctorate of Medicine from University Medical College in Baroda, India.

Dr. Gandhi then completed a rotating internship at the University Hospital in Baroda, India, and an OB/GYN internship at Cook County Hospital in Chicago, Illinois. She completed a psychiatry residency at Mount Sinai Hospital in Chicago, Illinois, and an OB/GYN residency at Deaconess Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. During her OB/GYN residency, she received an Outstanding Achievement Award through an affiliation with the University of Missouri.

After completing her internships and residencies, Dr. Gandhi entered private practice in 1976. She has served as principal investigator on research studies involving potential treatments for bacterial vaginosis and yeast infections during pregnancy and on how feminine hygiene practices relate to pelvic inflammatory disease.

Dr. Gandhi received her board certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology in 1980 and is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.

According to Dr. Gandhi, the most rewarding part of her practice is “assisting women in having a healthy, satisfying and safe childbearing experience.”

In her leisure time, Dr. Gandhi enjoys hiking with her dogs, Bessy and Midnight, cultivating orchids, and spending time with her family, friends and two wonderful grand children.
